How to Make a Wheat Bag

It might be cheaper for you to make your own wheat bags or sell them
for a small profit. The great thing about making your own is that you can make it in to any shape or size
that you want. Another benefit is that they may not be available in your area or within a close distance from
your house.
Before we get in to making the wheat bag there are some things you
need to keep in mind. Always heat your wheat bag with a cup or glass of water in the microwave. You should
never heat it alone because this may actually start a fire. The reason why we put a glass of water in the
microwave is to give the space inside some moisture. This helps prevent the wheat from over drying and
catching fire. If you have an old wheat pack and it starts to have a bad smell, toss it in the garbage and
make a new one.
Okay let’s get to it!
What you will need:
1. Wheat grains - You can buy natural wheat grains, without chemicals,
from your local health store. What you will require is the small pellet form of
wheat.
2. A material made of natural fibers such as calico. This will be what
the wheat touches directly.
3. Another material that will cover the previous material. It can be of a
design you like. Some people choose a regular cotton material while others prefer flannel. You
choose.
4. If you want to add a bit of smell to the wheat, you can try adding
some lavender or other essential oil.
Now depending on what you want to use this bag for, you will have to
cut a pattern in your desired shape. Some people prefer long rectangles that they can wrap around their neck
and others perfect a standard square or circle.
You will need to cut the calico a bit bigger than you plan. Make sure
that you fold the material over and then sew it. This will help reinforce the bag so that the wheat doesn’t
fall out. Leave one end open so that you can fill it with wheat grains.
When you fill the bag, be sure not to pack it tightly. Remember that
this bag will need to be molded around your body and a stiff bag isn’t going to feel nice. I recommend you
fill the bag half way. Once you have it filled it, fold the flap and sew it.
Next you basically repeat this process but making the cover a bit
larger so it can fit the calico wheat filled bag. If you want to reuse or be able to wash the cover, you can
sew the final flap so that a slot is left open or a button can be attached.
And that’s it! You now have a wheat bag to help relieve your pains.
Just remember to use a glass of water in the microwave while heating and don’t over heat it. It’s very easy
for dry wheat to catch fire in the microwave if left for a long time.
