Everyone has had a headache at some
point. Even the fact that you are looking at my article is a good reason to suggest that you or someone you
know has had one. Unfortunately headaches can be extremely mild or intensely
painful.
Tension headaches are the result of the
muscles in your neck. They usually feel like a squeezing and dull pain that just won’t go away. Even thought
they are usually manageable, they seem to last for days or weeks at a time.
Migraines tend to affect people’s lives
more intensely. It often feels like a pain on a certain part of the head and can sometimes be felt at the
back of the eyes, temples, and right through the head itself. They can be so intense that it can cause you to
vomit or feel extremely sick.
But there are some things you can do to
help relieve the symptoms or make them manageable until they disappear.
1. Tension headaches will often benefit
from something warm placed on the back of the neck and head. A wheat bag is definitely something you can use
to help relax the neck muscles.
2. Cold treatments can work by numbing the
pain but make sure to have some cloth between your skin and the cold pack or bag. You can easily create frost
bite or other problems with it directly pressing against the skin.
3. Relaxation exercises can help prevent
headaches in the first place and are a good way to help relax muscles in the case of tension headaches. You
may also want to try meditation which will reduce your overall stress.
4. It’s been said time and time again that
exercise is good for you. Exercise keeps blood flowing properly and keeps your stress hormones at lower
levels. Even exercises as perform with yoga will give you great benefits.
5. The B vitamin group is also been linked
to reducing the amount of headaches and their severity. Just make sure that you consult with a doctor and
follow the directions. Over dosing on vitamins is becoming more and more frequent as people think that “more
is better.” When in fact, more can be fatal.
6. Chamomile tea not only helps you relax
before bed but it can help you relieve headaches. If you aren’t getting enough sleep, then you should make it
a point to get the required sleep. With our busy lives we tend to bring a lot of stress on to ourselves by
neglecting our body’s needs.
7. Drinking more water and less caffeine
will help prevent headaches. Did you know that being dehydrated will cause
headaches?
There are more ways to prevent and
relive headaches than those I have pointed out, but the overall importance on relaxation and listening to
your body are the main key points. I hope these tips add some benefit to your life and reduce your headache
problems. Remember, if it is seriously affecting your life or they are occurring every day, seek professional
help right away.
